Update on the Future of Kindermusik of Cambridge

May 14, 2015: GREAT NEWS!!!

Dear Families & Friends of Kindermusik of Cambridge,

I am thrilled to announce that Richard L’Abbe, who owns and operates Queen Street Music School in Cambridge (Hespeler) will become the new owner of Kindermusik of Cambridge on July 1st, 2015. All Kindermusik classes will continue to be held at our present location on Sheldon Drive and all of our wonderful educators will remain with the studio!

Richard L’Abbe has performed and instructed music for many years as well as worked in sales and marketing positions. He studied violin, guitar, and piano with the Royal Conservatory of Music and worked as a professional musician across Canada in rock, heavy metal, and blues bands as both a hired musician and band member. While instructing at Walters Music in Mississauga, Richard learned about the success of the Yamaha Music Education System and it’s primary benefit being group classes and participation in music with others. Richard’s instructors at Queen Street Music School regularly upgrade training at Yamaha Music Education Canada. Their lessons and curriculum emphasize structure, fun, creativity and students are ages 3 to adult. They are community driven with performances at coffee shops, seniors residences, concerts, workshops. Students may participate and work towards goals of prep for Royal Conservatory of Music examinations and performances.

Richard is currently in training to become a licensed Kindermusik educator and business owner. He and I have been busy planning the 2015-2016 School-Year and you will be receiving that information shortly. Rest assured that classes will continue to run with the same caring quality to which you are accustomed. You will see me around from time to time next Fall, as I will be working on a consulting basis to help things run smoothly. I truly believe that Richard is ideally suited to take Kindermusik of Cambridge to the next level and I wish him every success!

I know you have many choices when it comes to your child’s learning in these early years. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for entrusting me to that all-important task. Now, I ask for your continued support and trust in our new owner.

Musically yours,

Michelle Jacques
Owner/Director, Kindermusik of Cambridge

May 5, 2015: Watch this spot for a new update coming very soon!

March 31, 2015: As you are aware, our director, Michelle Jacques, will be retiring at the end of June. She has sold the Waterloo program to long-time Kindermusik Educator, Hannah Hastings-Fuhr, and her Cambridge program is up for sale. Michelle’s primary goal is to find the right buyer who will ensure that the legacy she has built and nurtured over the last 3 decades will continue to thrive in the years to come, and that there be no interruption to the ongoing business. We know, that you, our dedicated families, are counting on that. If you happened to miss the announcement, you can read it here.

We are very pleased to report that we have received a firm offer and due diligence has begun! We can assure you of our confidence that this purchaser will fulfill the goals above. The best part is, their plans are centred on keeping the studio in its present location! They will very soon be providing information about summer and fall programming for the studio, so please keep an eye out for that.

We thank you for your patience during this time of transition. Your continued support will help ensure that Kindermusik of Cambridge endures for families in our community well into the future.
